Almost everyone is talking about today. They remain focused on right now. Short-term concern absorbs the majority of our energy. That is always the case, and perhaps never more than during the pandemic crisis. Emergency management requires devotion to immediate action, but the success of response depends upon preparation and the quality of advanced planning.
Throughout the COVID-19 long term crisis, the ICISF has developed a long-range approach to our work. We continue to develop alternative projections for six months, ten months, and beyond. This approach enables us to take action today that facilitates consistent strategic management. ICISF members, instructors and partners see the results via our emails, social media posts, and website activity.
Specifically, we now offer many online resources. These programs feature a variety of online courses including core courses, live remote training provided by ICISF Faculty, and live remote training provided by approved instructors. Our website offers many free COVID-19 resources, a web-based APP that allows you to place resources on your smart phone, and much more. We have introduced a public bookstore that is starting small but will offer books to help people learn more about critical incident stress management and related subjects.
In June, we encouraged our partners and approved instructors to recognize that the pandemic is not going away any time soon. We must use online resources to carry out our CISM training and presentations because we cannot simply wait out this crisis the way we would wait out a severe storm. When in-person training can occur, the ICISF stands ready to support that work.
The COVID-19 storm remains with us for the foreseen future. We must look to 2021, develop our strategies and that will guide today’s action. Your commitment to the great value of CISM is needed now more than ever.
